The Majeski Foundation mission is to educate communities, help generate compassion for those who need it and offer financial relief to families struggling to assist their loved ones with special needs.
Our Purpose

Those who attended the Majeski’s wedding
weren’t just guests, they were also their first donors.

Through their friends and family’s generosity, the Majeski Foundation became a reality on their wedding day. Because the Majeski’s wedding guests were also the first to donate to their new charitable foundation. Their goal was to help children and adults with special needs. Since 2003, they have successfully done just that.

Steven Schwartz

His achievement defied the odds. His story will help others do the same.

Meet Steven Schwartz, Barbara’s brother. Steven has the genetic disorder, Fragile X. (Fragile X is the most common inherited cause of mental impairment. It is also the most common known cause of autism.) Steven is a bright, loving individual who loves music, people and gives great hugs to everyone he meets. Until he was 21, Steven was a student in the West Windsor Plainsboro school district. He attended his senior prom, went to basketball games and participated in many school activities. Through Steven’s family’s efforts, exhaustive research, and Camp Horizons, Steven graduated in 1995. While these were incredible achievements, they immediately lead to a difficult question for Steven’s family: “what now?”

Steven had worked for the school district in a cafeteria for seven years, but his hours were only from 10am to 2pm. His parents had to transport Steven back and forth, Monday through Friday, while school was in session. During school holidays, Steven had nothing to do. Now that he was out of school and out of work, his parents were thrust into a difficult balancing act. They had to work to keep a roof over their heads and to maintain 24/7 supervision for Steven. Financial and emotional hardship set in.

When Barbara had her first son, she stopped working and moved back to the Princeton area where her parents lived. She could see her parents were strained and their ability to take care of Steven was unraveling. Barbara stepped in to help. Her parents were clearly exhausted from dealing with different agencies, and they were too frustrated to pursue alternative options for Steven. In the last year alone, Barbara spent countless hours pursuing future options for her brother. After being appointed his legal guardian, she arranged his transportation to and from his daytime activities. She is also currently reviewing residential options for him. She even helped him find and start a new job.

Building on their personal experience around helping Steven, Barbara and Jamie are determined to make it easier for millions of people to access the education and financial resources, so they could help their own loved ones with special needs. The Majeski’s hope is that their journey, resources, and passion will help others who are on the same road they’re traveling on.
