Big Heart Bingo - November 28, 2007
On November, 28th 2007 friends and family of Barbara Majeski & Faith DeJean gathered to host a BINGO fundraiser for the Fegel Family of New Brunswick. Together they raised over 5k in the true spirit of the holiday season.
About Big Heart Bingo and the Fegels:
The Fegel's story:
Fred & Kristen Fegel of East Brunswick have been going through severe hardship. Shortly after Fred had surgery to remove a malignant tumor from his leg (liposarcoma), he and his wife Kristen found out that their son, Brett (5 years old), was diagnosed with a golf-ball sized brain tumor (megaloblastoma). After Brett's tumor was removed from the back of his head, he and his father underwent additional treatment together. But when the store Fred worked at closed, their hardship escalated as Fred searched to find work that would provide healthcare. Kristen is now working at a local store to provide them with health benefits. (The Fegels also have a little girl, Kelly, who is three.)
When Barbara Majeski learned of their need for support from Faith DeJean and Jackie Sarka, she asked friends and family to come together for a fundraiser. Within 72 hours, Faith DeJean, Jackie Sarka and Barbara had gathered a group of supporters at Faith's home for a night of Bingo called BIG HEART BINGO. Together they raised over $5,000 for the Fegels. Barbara was very moved by how everyone she called on dropped what they were doing to help. But she wasn't surprised!
"When my husband and I moved to Princeton several years ago, we chose this area because we believed in the amazing community and what a wonderful place it would be to raise our children. We could have lived anywhere in the country, but this was where we were drawn. After the Big HEART BINGO event our beliefs are confirmed & we are honored to be residents of Princeton."
